about maraA born hostess, with a love for fashion, coffee, patterned china, a fresh manicure and dreams of perfect lighting. I enjoy fresh flowers and never an empty plate at my table. I have an endless love of styling and I adore entertaining personally, and professionally. I share my life with my husband, Jordan, and our two dogs Bambi and Tucker.Born in Bucharest, Romania, I grew up in a culture focused on food, entertaining and family. Throughout my childhood dinner parties were a consistent reality, not scenes from movies and TV. It would be impossible to walk into anyone's home without being offered "ce va mic" (Romanian, meaning “a small bite”) that more accurately resembled a Thanksgiving spread. My parents would bring out beautiful linens, fancy plates and fragrant flowers in preparation for their guests. Hors d'oeuvres on pretty platters and fancy beverages in shiny crystal glasses mesmerized me from the time I was tall enough to see over the top of the dining room table. No dinner table was complete without perfect supper lighting and strategically placed candles. To this day I love to entertain, and I'm certain there is a perfect placement for each and every item on the table- I’ll show you! Today, I can see well over the top of the dining room table and I am thrilled to spend my days surrounded by parties creating phenomenal events and well-styled tabletops for my clients. I have found that getting to know my clients and helping them develop their vision, rather than imposing my own, has been what makes me successful. Although I attend educational industry seminars, classes and conferences all over the world to ensure I am at the top of my game in terms of wedding and event industry education and design skills, I realize clients rely on me to guide them, rather than instruct them. Every event we produce has my personal touch and feels contemporary and elegant in style and design, but my clients will tell you their event was a perfect reflection of “them” and their story. I am honored and so excited to have been recognized by so many local and national media outlets as an Industry Professional, called on to give expert advice in print, as a speaker, and on television. As a regular contributor to the Utah Bride and Groom magazine blog and monthly live appearances on KUTV 2 News as the Wedding & Party Expert, I am considered among the top in my discipline. My work, opinion, and events are currently featured in Salt Lake/Park City Bride & Groom magazine, Utah Bride & Groom magazine, Latter-Day Bride magazine, the Deseret News, and on many local and national online blogs such as Utah Bride Blog, Style Me Pretty and Grace Ormonde. I worked as the Director of Private Events for some of Salt Lake’s hottest nightspots prior to producing events and weddings on my own. That nightclub background has armed me with a fresh and exciting perspective on how to really throw a party that will keep guests talking long after last call. Having that unique training has been a major factor in my success today and the reason why my clients will tell you I know how to ensure an event will be a hit. Guest experience is always a top priority and my events are a testament to that. I found that my passion for events outgrew the nightclubs venues and I knew it was time to explore event production on my own, and thus LMG was born. Although the majority of our clients are now brides rather than company executives armed with corporate Amex cards, we regularly plan and produce both social and corporate events. Still the primarily planner who meets with every client we have the opportunity to work with, I have grown to add almost 20 individuals on our team who work various aspects of our events from Audio/Visual to logistics. We have grown to take on interns and even have an associate planner on the team this year that is beginning to take on events of her own. Events by LMG also plans and executes charity events, anniversary parties, children's parties, fundraisers, birthdays, anniversaries, and GLBT events.
